File formats available from Palgrave Macmillan
We will provide the most accessible format possible according to the availability of files for each title.
Image descriptions - Our files do not currently contain image descriptions but we aware of the importance of this aspect of our files and we are looking into adding image descriptions in the future.
Print PDF
Print PDF is our mostly commonly available electronic format, and is usually supplied as a single combined book file. However, please notify us if you would like chapter separated files. Our Print PDF files will have a text layer that permits text to speech, reflow and colour change functions. These files do not contain bookmarks, a tagged reading order or Alt-text.
eBook PDF (or WebPDF)
Where possible we will provide eBook PDF files. As with Print PDFs, our eBook PDFs will have a text layer that permits text to speech, reflow and colour change functions. In addition to these, our eBook PDFs contain bookmarks which structure main headings and subheadings. These files do not contain a tagged reading order or Alt-text.
EPUB 2
Most of our titles are also available in this format, although some older titles may be subject to availability.
Our EPUB2 files are fully reflowable with hyperlinked headings, subheadings, figures, tables and numbered in-text citations, and as such, have more accessibility features than print or eBook PDFs. Our EPUB2 files do not currently contain Alt-text tags. In some instances, complex mathematical formulae will be displayed as images.
EPUB3
Currently, only some of our books are available in ePub3 format, offering interactive features designed to support and enhance the learning process.
